The Quaker shop needs volunteers
The Quaker shphas a large number of helpers, some of whom have been associated with the shop for many years. The help given by these volunteers is very much appreciated. Some helpers are involved in tasks such as sorting and pricing and doing odd jobs in the back rooms and shed but most are “behind the counter” helping customers.
The roster for 'behind the counter helpers' is arranged so that there are two three-hour shifts each weekday – the first one from 10 am til 1 pm and the second one from 1 pm til 4 pm. There are at least two helpers for every shift and there is also a list of people ('emergency helpers') who would be willing to fill in for an occasional shift when a regular helper wishes or needs to be absent.
It is also proposed that instead of two regular helpers for a shift there be three helpers. This would allow for greater flexibility in attendance for all helpers and reduce the frequency of calling on 'emergency helpers'.
There are therefore vacancies for additional helpers on every weekday morning and for Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.
The 'emergency helpers' list could also be expanded.
If the idea of spending a few hours in congenial company, absorbing the unique atmosphere of the shop, finding unusual bargains for yourself as well as helping others to do likewise and meanwhile raising lots of money mainly for QSA, is appealing to you then this would be a great opportunity for you or perhaps for someone you know. It is not necessary to be a Quaker, there are men as well as women helpers and there is no upper or lower age limit. There are passive roles as well as active ones and there is seldom a dull moment.
Please give this some thought.
